About CG Wood Creations

My name is Craig Graham and I am the owner and operator of CG Wood Creations. My goals for this company are simple:
1. To save wood that is heading to the dump or a fire pit. Wood is one of the few things that gets better and more beautiful with age. It is better on the environment to use wood that is already available rather than further deforesting for lumber. Older wood is more stable, has beautiful natural color, harder, and holds stain better. When I have clients that request or require new wood, I guarantee the wood comes from FSC Providers to ensure that the wood is from sustainable sources. I typically purchase wood from local small business saw mills that obtain their wood from urban areas where the wood was felled due to natural causes or due to new construction.
2. To make pieces that are perfect for the client and greatly surpasses the quality of furniture being retailed at big box stores. I want to make pieces that become heirlooms so they can be passed on for generations. This is not possible with furniture retailed at big box stores where the furniture is made with fiber board or press wood, with a thin wood veneer that will not last normal wear and tear. These stores often ship their furniture from the other side of the globe making a negative impact on the global environment.
My clients want custom pieces, not mass produced, low quality pieces. All of my products are made to order, and therefor can be modified to make the piece perfect for the client. Each piece is unique, again unlike the big box stores. If you do not see what you are looking for on my website, please contact me. There is a great chance that I can design and make the piece you are looking for.
MY BACKGROUND
At an early age I started to build things and working with wood. It helped to have a father with an engineering background who and would build anything, and a grandfather who loved to hunt old things, and work with wood. Working with wood started out as a healthy escape. I also needed furniture that either couldn't find at a store or if I could find it I was unwilling to pay the price for the ow quality of the piece. Working with wood and making beautiful pieces is very gratifying and I love the reactions of my clients when they see their piece. I never take on to many orders in order to keep my work more of an ART and NOT A JOB.
I have many passions such as strength coaching and coaching baseball, and I have coached high school and college athletes for many years. I am proud to have been a part of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) in this area since 2005. I am also passionate about wildlife and nature photography and I love being outside. Thankfully being a furniture designer and maker allows me some time to pursue each passions, as well as giving me the time to do my biggest love; my wife and two boys, Christian and Garrett Rivers.
I have a business degree from Coastal Carolina University and a MBA from Syracuse University. Prior to starting CG Creations, I spent over ten years in the commercial/corporate finance industry in the Washington DC Metro Area.
TO MY CUSTOMERS
I make everything as if I am building it for GOD. God designed wood with great beauty and character; I just convert it and highlight its beauty. If I would not put the finished piece in my home, I would not give it to you to put in yours.
